Campus Center Project Area: Phase 1

Campus Center Area. Stanford's campus center stretches from Meyer Green to Lake Lagunita.
Phase One Project Area. The first phase of the Commons at Campus Center project will create a dynamic new campus hub: four structures, including new looks and uses for the current bookstore and post office buildings, and adjacent garden and gathering spaces for faculty, students, staff, and visitors.
Phase One Site Plan. Updating the landscape areas allows for new spaces for gathering, meeting or hanging out. Each space will have a combination of fixed and movable furnishings enabling individuals and groups to rearrange things as they prefer.
Commons Great Room: A variety of spots to meet up or sit alone and, on the second floor, reservable and drop-in spaces for clubs and other groups in the current bookstore.

Canfield Court: The new Stanford Student Barn will connect the Great Room and Bookstore.
Commons Porch: Informal gathering areas and benches fashioned from felled campus oaks and redwoods between the porch of the Commons Great Room (current bookstore) and Claw fountain.
Garden Deck: A new, outdoor plaza connecting the new Student Barn (top left) and Commons Great Room in the area currently occupied by the 1970 bookstore addition.
Bookstore/Cafe: A new bookstore with academic and general books and a small café for book talks and informal gatherings in the renovated post office building.
Student Barn: A new place for the campus community to host events and meetings throughout the day in two adaptable multi-use rooms that can hold 30-200.
Trellis: A flexible gathering space, including a covered area for large gatherings at the south end of White Plaza.
Commons Porch: Seating and activity areas in the space connecting the new bookstore and café (current post office) and Trellis.
